Overwhelmed with joy and gratefulness Print E-mail

 Good Morning Susie,

I want you to know that you are my HERO. Your compassion for others is a breath of fresh air. We live in a country where I feel like we sometimes forget about home but its people like you who always remember the people under the bridge who other people have given up on. This will be my 4th year volunteering with Operation Care and I always enjoy participating.

I started in 2006 at a time when I had just been laid off from my job in November. When I tell you that I thought I was at rock bottom until I stepped into that convention center that morning. I realized that there was a whole other bottom; one I had never encountered before.

The Cry of The Poor For Operation Care Print E-mail

"The Cry of The Poor" for Operation Care Dallas

by Aimee
Sept. 26, 2009

For several months, I have had this urge to put the song, The Cry of The Poor on the site as visitors come to visit the site.  But I couldn’t find it online that sounded like the one I heard before (can’t remember where I heard it the first time), so I finally gave up.

Today, my grandbaby, a 21-month old, walked up to me with a CD and pointed at Jesus (she calls Jesus, Babies), “Babies!” I took the CD, thanked her and placed it in my pocketbook.  Later, I got to my car, took the CD out, thinking of enjoying some  music as I drive.  I took the CD out of the case, and there, the first song was The Cry of The Poor.

The Cry of the Poor

Refrain
The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
Blessed be the Lord.

Verses
1. I will bless the Lord at all times,
with praise ever in my mouth.
Let my soul glory in the Lord,
who will hear the cry of the poor.

2. Let the lowly hear and be glad:
the Lord listens to their pleas;
and to hearts broken God is near,
who will hear the cry of the poor.

3. Ev'ry spirit crushed God will save;
will be ransom for their lives;
will be safe shelter for their fears,
and will hear the cry of the poor.

4. We proclaim your greatness, O God,
your praise ever in our mouth;
your face brightened in your light,
for you hear the cry of the poor.

A Comforting Touch Print E-mail

A Comforting Touch ©
by Michelle Whitehead

Can you imagine going years without experiencing the touch of another human being? No hugs? No tender moments of reassurance that you matter, let alone exist? I can’t.

Recently, I had the honor of experiencing firsthand the power of touch. It was a moment in my life that will forever change the way I process, perceive and especially pray.

December 13, 2008 presented an opportunity to serve those less fortunate, namely, the homeless. I had decided a few weeks earlier to volunteer my 12 year old son, Aaron, and I for Operation Care Dallas Christmas Gift being held at the
Dallas Convention Center. Leading up to this day, I found myself reluctant, not wanting to attend, or maybe just plain lazy – justifying it by thinking they would never miss our presence. I could have never been more wrong.

God's Amazing Power to Change Lives IF We Obey!

I was speaking at Galloway Avenue Baptist Church several weeks ago and after the service a lady came to me and said, " I lived under a bridge for more than 3 years and a became a recipient of your blanket ministry. Susie, because of people like you who truly care, I am now back with my family and children, I was able to purchase a home, I am going to church and I am working as an assitant manager in an apartment complex!" A transformed life touched by God's work through Operation Care-Dallas. Isn't God wonderful!
